Social Security Board (Belize) ("SSB") takes the protection of personal data very seriously. Therefore, we ask that you read this Privacy Policy carefully, since it contains important information with respect to purpose of the information collected from you and how it will be used.
This policy applies to the Social Security Board app (hereby referred to as "Application") created by the Social Security Board (hereby referred to as the "Service Provider") for mobile devices. The application is a free service and is intended for use, "AS IS".
SSB ensures that it is fully compliant with the data protection principles set out in the Data Protection Act, No.45 of 2021 of the Laws of Belize, through appropriate, technical and organizational measures. Any personal identifiable information submitted will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
Information Collection & Use
The Application does not gather precise information about your location. The Service Provider may use the information you provide to contact you from time to time in order to provide you with important information, notices or marketing promotions.
For a more customized experience while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to Name, Email Address, and/or Date of Birth.
Third Party Access
The Service Provider may disclose collected information in special circumstances:
- As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process
- When in good faith, such disclosure is necessary for the protection of their rights, your safety, the safety of others, or support internal fraud investigations.
Your Rights
You can easily stop all collection of information by the Application by uninstalling it from your device.
You also have the following rights concerning your data:
- to request information about the processing of your personal data provided;
- to request, without undue delay, the rectification of inaccurate data pertaining to you, or the completion of your incomplete personal data;
- to request the immediate deletion of your personal data provided that this data is not prevented by regulation, law, such as statutory retention periods;
- and to complain to the Ombudsman of Belize if you consider that the processing of YOUR personal data by SSB is in breach of the law. This is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies you may have.
Data Retention
The Service Provider may retain the information provided as necessary for providing Social Security services or as legally required. If you would like any clarification on Social Security's retention of your data, you may contact them at info@socialsecurity.org.bz.
Children
The Social Security Act (Chapter 44 of the Laws of Belize) provides for insured coverage of persons over the age of 14 engaged in insurable employment.
The Service Provider does not leverage the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 14. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. The Service Provider encourages parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and to help enforce this Policy by instructing their children never to provide personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 14 has provided personally identifiable information to the Service Provider through the Application, please contact the Service Provider (info@socialsecurity.org.bz). You must also be at least 14 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time as the Service Provider deems necessary. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes. This privacy policy is effective as of 1st December 2025.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by the Service Provider.
